SOME VERY INTERESTING DETAILS ABOUT SNACKTIME

Families whose children attend mornings are asked to bring snacks for all eighteen children approximately once a month. Please bring snack items in unopened store-bought containers only (except for home-baked goodies). Parents of children who attend only in the afternoon may send in a treat anytime for all to share!

AS PART OF OUR EMPHASIS ON HEALTHY MINDS AND BODIES

We encourage parents to bring in foods that are
1) minimally processed,
2) do no contain hydrogenated oils or refined sugar, and
3) whenever economically acceptable, are organic or naturally grown.
For some items that have otherwise been shown to contain particulalrly high concentrations of chemical residues, such as peanut butter and raisins, we prefer to serve only the organic varieties. If this doesn't work well for you please don't hesitate to let us know so we can try to switch with another family.

WHY THIS LIST?

We supply these menues to insure variety and to help make it easier for parents to figure out what to bring, but nutritious home-baked substitutions are always welcome and appreciated. Please ask us about quantities because the children eat more than you might expect!

BIRTHDAYS

If you would like to bring in a special treat on your child's birthday so we can all celebrate together, it will be served after our regular morning snack. We provide the candles, balloons, and vocal accompaniment!

OTHER ISSUES

If your child will not be attending on the day you are assigned snack please bring it in ahead of time. Also, it often happens that we do not serve a given snack on the day it is listed on the calendar.

MAKE IT EASY TO REMEMBER

Please highlight your snack day when you get the calendar each month, the ncross of your name on our reminder list in the hallway when you drop off the goods. If you do forget your day, please bring in your assigned snack as soon as possible to replenish our supplies.

WE DO IT ALL

Maple Leaf staff will do all the necessary preparation.

Please remember that for everyone's protection we can't use food that has been openend or is out-dated.

THANKS!
